What is Posh Act?

Prohibition of Sexual Harassment Act is An Indian act designed to prevent sexual harassment of women at the workplace. All firms are required by the law to fulfill all obligations specified under the act. ICC is short for the “Internal Complaint Committee”, also referred to as the “Internal Committee”. These are unbiased internal committees designed to register and investigate complaints of sexual harassment.

Deliverables

Sexual harassment complaints at work can be lodged either with the Internal Committee or Local Committee by Section 9 of the POSH Act. The following is the procedure: An aggrieved woman may file a complaint of sexual harassment at work within three months of the date of the incident and, in the case of repeated incidents, within three months of the most recent incident. The Internal Complaints Committee / Local Complaints Committee may extend the time limit if the aggrieved woman cannot submit a complaint within three months. The committee must be satisfied that the circumstances prevented the woman from forwarding a complaint within the specified period. An extension of time must be justified in writing by the committee.
